Wesley Vocational Institute Forges Links with Centacare Bathurst

28 August 2008

Centacare has joined hands with Wesley Vocational Institute (WVI) in providing Accredited Training in Community Services at its Bathurst delivery site by delivering selected qualifications from WVI’s Scope of Registration.

This memorandum of understanding is a wonderful opportunity, especially because of the difficulties providers face to get staff with any kind of training who live in remote areas e.g. Bourke, Walgett etc. With the way things are progressing in these remote areas, Rural Health will be unable to employ people unless they have some kind of qualification.

Partnering with WVI meant that in addition to their other courses they are currently delivering, Centacare clients now has access to nationally recognised training and qualifications.

Keith Garner meets the first batch of International students

5 August 2008

The First Batch of future chefs met with Rev. Keith Garner on the 6th of August 2008 at the Wesley Brasserie as part of their orientation week. This batch is the first group enrolled in Certificate III in Hospitality (Commercial Cookery) at Wesley Vocational Institute. The course will be run at Wesley Conference Centre’s fully equipped commercial kitchen at 220 Pitt St, Sydney.

Dressed in their full chef uniforms, the students were all excited to meet Keith and finally start their course. The students received words of wisdom, encouragement and inspiration from Keith, as they embarked on their learning journey at WVI and as they contribute to serving the needs of the greater community in the future.

Victor Lim, the RTO Manager of WVI also imparted valuable advice to the students, and briefly discussed the opportunities that students may expect to receive from studying at WVI. “We care for our students and the quality and successful delivery of vocational courses for international students.”
