Wesley Institute Student Acting in World Youth Day

Charlie StambolieffHundreds of thousands of young people are expected to make the pilgrimage to Sydney for World Youth Day in July, while millions more will be watching on television.

WI Drama student Charlie Stambolieff has won the coveted role of ‘John’, the beloved disciple, in the ‘Stations of the Cross’ performances as part of World Youth Day events in July.

Directed by Father Franco Cavarra, who has directed operas both in Australia and internationally, the re-enactment will be telecast live to the world. More than one billion people viewed the last performance in the 2002 World Youth Day in Toronto.

Charlie is thrilled to have won a leading role in the cast of 60 plus and is loving the experience of working with professionals at a high level for this world renowned event.
